Auto Dealers CARing for Kids
Since its incorporation in 2003, the Auto Dealers CARing for Kids Foundation has made more than $10.8 million in contributions to programs and institutions that enhance and enrich the lives of children and youth in the communities where its dealer members work and live. Included in these contributions is $5.4 million to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. These funds support the Auto Dealers CARing for Kids Patient Welcome Center in the Richard D. Wood Pediatric Ambulatory Care Center, as well as a number of other vital departments within the Hospital. Together, the ADAGP and the Foundation have made annual contributions to Children’s Hospital since 1986 that total more than $7.5 million. Support for the Hospital continues today through the Foundation’s annual Black Tie Tailgate Gala at the Philadelphia Auto Show.
The Foundation also runs its own philanthropic initiatives. The annual Tech Comp is an automotive technology competition for high school seniors. The students compete for scholarships, tools and prizes to continue their automotive education at the post-secondary level. Driving Away the Cold, which began in 2008, has warmed the hearts of 265,252 local children in need by providing them with the gift of a brand NEW winter coat. Driving Away the Cold is supported by 178 new car dealerships and remains a top priority for the Foundation as the need for this essential item unfortunately continues to grow every day.
